Easily accessible hotspots and rich tropical flora
The mountainous archipelago of the Republic of the Fiji Islands hosts 133 bird species, including 34 endemics. Of the 322 islands, Taveuni and Kadavu present some of the best birding opportunities thanks to easily accessible hotspots and rich tropical flora. When you go, keep an eye out for such colorful species as the Fiji Parrotfinch, Orange Fruit Dove, Orange-breasted Honeyeater, Vanikoro Flycatcher, and Fiji Goshawk. There is always an extreme outside chance that you might luck upon Red-throated Lorikeet. But in all likelihood this species is probably extinct.
