What sunscreen do you use for your eyes?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Most people know about the importance of protecting their skin from potentially harmful UV rays, but what about their eyes?\u00a0 Aren\u2019t they just as or even more likely to be damaged from the sun?\u00a0 To find out what people really think about UV protection for their eyes, we asked people on the streets of sunny San Francisco.<\/p>\n

\"Using<\/h2>\n

The result: 7 out of 10 clear eyeglass lenses only offer partial UV protection…letting as much as 40% of UV radiation through.<\/h3>\n

Many people said they hadn\u2019t even thought about protecting their eyes from UV before\u2026and they were not pleased to learn their eyeglasses lenses weren\u2019t fully protecting their eyes from harmful UV radiation.<\/p>\n

According to the American Academy of Opthalmology, too much exposure to UV light raises the risks of eye diseases, including cataracts, eye growths, such as pterygiums and pingueculas, and cancer.\u00a0 Strong exposure to snow reflection can also quickly cause painful damage called snow blindness.<\/p>\n
